National Executive Council

The highest executive decision-making body of the Government of Papua New Guinea.

The National Executive Council (NEC) is the highest executive decision-making body of the Government of Papua New Guinea. It is chaired by the Prime Minister and comprises thirty-nine (39) Ministers responsible for the various portfolios of Government. Together, they form the Cabinet that determines national policy directions, approves major programs, and oversees the administration of the State.

NEC members share the responsibility of ensuring that all government decisions reflect the national interest and uphold the principles of transparency, unity, and service to the people of Papua New Guinea.
