Welcome to the Office of National Executive Council

It is my privilege to welcome you to the National Executive Council (NEC) of Papua New Guinea, the principal decision-making body of our Government. The NEC provides leadership in determining the country’s policy direction and authorizes the allocation of national resources to achieve our development priorities.

The NEC operates through collective deliberations, ensuring that decisions represent the unified position of the Cabinet. This collaborative approach strengthens governance and ensures accountability in the implementation of Government policies.

As we serve during the 11th Parliament and recently celebrate our 50 years of nationhood, it is vital that Government policies are clearly defined and resources distributed fairly to advance the socio-economic growth of our nation. The structure of the NEC has been refined to reflect this vision. Portfolios have been organized, and where necessary, consolidated or newly established to address key national priorities: strengthening democratic governance, building a resilient economy, enhancing infrastructure, responsibly managing natural resources, improving business and investment confidence, addressing law and order, advancing education and health, and reinforcing state institutions.

Ministers, together with their departments and agencies, hold the responsibility for initiating, implementing, and reporting on policies that deliver tangible results for our people. This leadership, accountability, and coordinated approach are central to achieving our national priorities and ensuring that Government works efficiently, transparently, and inclusively.

On behalf of the NEC, the office of the Secretary to the NEC and the staff of the Office of National Executive Council, I extend a warm welcome to all officials and stakeholders involved in advancing the development agenda of our country. Through collaboration, dedication, and unity, we continue to build a strong, prosperous, and inclusive Papua New Guinea.
